Langley RCMP say five foreign nationals were arrested yesterday and multiple charges related to extortion have been laid.

Four were arrested in Surrey, B.C., and one was arrested arriving at Toronto Pearson Airport.

The province launched an RCMP-led task force last year to address extortion as threats against members of the local South Asian community increased.

Police aren't sharing too many specifics about those charged as reporters ask questions.
